On October 11th, the municipal government of Shenzhen commended the innovative entrepreneurs and outstanding figures in the 40 years since the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Forty outstanding people including Yuanhao Huang, alumnus 98’of the College of Engineering, was selected.
In the past 40 years, benefiting from the policy of reform and opening-up, Shenzhen has created a miracle speed in industrialization, urbanization and modernization. With the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, Shenzhen has created four key industries, namely high-tech, finance, logistics, and culture. Many world-renowned science and technology stars have risen.
The 40th Anniversary Celebration of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was held
These 40 awardees were considered "dare to venture, dare to try, dare to be the first in the world, and have made outstanding contributions and outstanding influences in scientific and technological innovation, management innovation, institutional innovation, and cultural innovation". The government calls on the people of the city to set the awardees as role models.
Dr. Yuanhao Huang graduated from the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science at Peking University in 2002. In 2013, as a top young scientist in the field of international optical measurement, he returned to China and founded the company Orbbec with a group of engineers and researchers. The company shared a belief that 3D cameras would revolutionize computing. And today, Orbbec has more than 500 employees, and the team has created the best cameras available.
On the morning of October 14, the 40th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was held in Shenzhen. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the conference and delivered a speech. Huang was invited to attend the meeting.
