The College of Engineering undergraduate students share the same curriculum during their first year and can choose a program to study according to their own academic interests before entering the second year.
Currently, there are seven majors at undergraduate level that they can choose from, which are Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Energy and Environment System Engineering, Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Robotics Engineering.
On May 5, 2020, the college made an online briefing of undergraduate programs for the students, helping them make the right decision.
First, Professor Huiling Duan, dean of the College of Engineering, reviewed the history of the college and pointed out the highlights of the seven departments and its seven undergraduate majors.
Afterwards, Prof. Moubin Liu and Qiguo Rong from the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, Prof. Yanfeng Zhang from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Prof. Ke Xu and Dingguo Xia from the Department of Energy and Resource Engineering, Prof. Changhui Li from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Chao Zhou from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, and Prof. Qi’ning Wang from the Department of Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics gave a more in-depth introduction to each of the programs, in terms of teachers, research directions and achievements of outstanding alumni.
During the Q&A session, the teachers and the students had a friendly and in-depth exchange, which resolved some of the students' confusion. After the online conference, each department also established an online communication group to facilitate students to learn more about the various majors.
