The Teaching Contest for PKU Young Teachers has been an annual event since 2000. It is jointly organized by the PKU Labor Union, Office of Teaching Affairs, Office of Human Resources, Graduate School and the Center for Advancement in Teaching. It aims to provide an opportunity for PKU younger teachers to present teaching skills and exchange ideas on education.

PKU Vice President Song Gao attended the event. “Teachers should not only focus on doing research, but also try their best to initiate the students’ studying interests. I hope you have great passion to teach, to enhance teaching quality, to influence your students, and to teach them the capability of self-learning,” said he.

According to the rules of the contest, participant teachers gave 20 minutes’ teaching demonstration of any part of the courses they normally teach, and the judging penal, made up of students, young teachers and senior teachers, communicated with the contestant and commented on the effect of the course.

In the Session of Science and Technology, Assistant Professor Fanyang Mo from the Department of Energy and Resources Engineering took the Third Prize. Assistant Professor Antony K. Chen from the Department of Biomedical Engineering received the Excellent Award.

The College of Engineering has always encouraged young teachers to participate in the contest. In the past years, with full support from the COE Labor Union, many teachers achieved the first, second and third prizes.
