    Commencement ceremony held for Class of 2019

  • On July 1st, 2019, the College of Engineering (COE) grandly hosted a commencement ceremony for the Class of 2019 graduates in Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center at Peking University. Over 300 bachelors, master and Ph.D. graduates gathered together.

    COE leaders including Dean Dongxiao Zhang, Associate Dean Huiling Duan, Party Secretary Zhili Sun, department chairs, teachers, along with parents and families of some graduates shared this joyous moment with the graduates. The event was hosted by Assistant Dean Yongmei Li.

    At the ceremony, Dean Dongxiao Zhang asked the graduates to maintain social responsibilities in their future career and life. “Firstly, I hope you can use what you have learned to solve big challenges in reality. Secondly, I hope you will remember to contribute to society and create new knowledge and value. Thirdly, try to lead new directions for scientific research and industrial development,” said Zhang.

     

    Alumnus Yun Wang delivers a speech

    Alumnus 94’ Dr. Yun Wang, currently Professor in University of California-Irvine, shared his opinion about how to lead a fruitful life after graduation. He suggested the graduates on connecting with alumni in their future life, calming their mind and keep on working hard when being treated “unjust”, and always pay back to their parents, alma mater and the motherland.

    Teacher Qining Wang gives a speech

    Subsequently, teacher representative Dr. Qining Wang, who graduated from the college ten years ago, now an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, said that he chose his occupation purely based on his interest in teaching and research. He encouraged the graduates to be determined in pursuing their dreams.

    Student representatives Ms. Yiwen Hu and Dr. Shujie Zhang, parent representative Mr. Zuopei Xu also spoke on the ceremony, before outstanding undergraduates and graduates received honors.

    The College of Engineering wishes the graduates of 2019 a splendid future.
