On December 22, 2017, the third Board of the Alumni Association of the College of Engineering, Peking University was established in the meeting held at Yingjie Exchange Center of Peking University. Nearly 70 College alumni and the association board members had travelled from all over the country to attend the meeting. The event was presided over by Yongmei Li, assistant dean of the College of Engineering.
At the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the Alumni Association of Peking University, Mr. Chao Gao spoke highly of the work of the Alumni Association of the College of Engineering and expressed congratulations to the conducting of the conference.

Subsequently, Mr. Zhili Sun, secretary of the CPC of the College of Engineering, briefed the development of the college in the past year. He introduced the research progress made by the college faculty members in new disciplines such as new materials, combustible ice mining, big data and cell sequencing. He also talked about the effort made in the pursuing of "first-class" disciplines and the undergraduate education reform. Sun pointed out that the development of the college requires the care and support of the alumni.

After Sun’s speech, the meeting approved the nomination of a total of 28 executive members of the 3rd board, and elected Mr. Zhilli Sun as the chairman and Ms. Yongmei Li as executive vice chairman and secretary general.
In the past several years, the alumni association has been playing an important role in promoting the college’s development, building a resource platform and connecting alumni. In the meeting, the alumni representatives Zi’nan Huang (1988’), Xiaoli Chen (2005’) and Shaoxin Wang (2014’) said that their time spent in the college has benefited them for life. They wished their alma mater and the college a bright future.
In the next session, Mr. Duoxiang Wang, associate dean of the College of Engineering and director of Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation (BICI), introduced the ideology, management mode and technology transfer achievement of BICI. He pointed out that the college owns a great number of cutting-edge knowledge, and it’s BICI’s responsibility to help transfer the knowledge to technology.

Ms. Yongmei Li then extended congratulations to the members of the new board and thanked the members of the second board for their contributions. She introduced the history of the college, the mission of the alumni association, and the work of last year, as well as achievements made by outstanding alumni.

The meeting also discussed issues such as construction of first class disciplines, the postgraduate education reform, how to develop new-type engineering program at Peking University, and celebration of the 120th anniversary of Peking University on May 4, 2018.
