In late March, the 22nd “Top Ten Teachers of Peking University Loved by Students” selection was launched by the Student Union. Recommended by the faculty members and voted by the university students, Prof. Yipeng Shi of the College of Engineering won the honor. Warm congratulations to him!
Prof. Shi is currently the deputy director of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Turbulence and Complex Systems at Peking University.
He has long been recognized in the teaching of basic courses, such as “Calculus”, “Engineering Fluid Mechanics”, “Turbulence”, and “Advanced Mathematical Equations”. He was winner of the Peking University Teaching Excellence Award twice, In 2008 and 2014, respectively.
His research interests include aerodynamics, turbulence and numerical simulations, application of partial differential equations, quantum computing, and quantum information.
Advocating the combination of theory, computer numerical simulation and experiment in fluid mechanics research, Prof. Shi’s groundbreaking work in the turbulence-constrained large eddy simulation was listed as the first of four major achievements in fluid mechanics in the book “60 Years of Chinese Mechanics” by Dr. Wei Yang, Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
