It was well recognized that Steven as an old friend of PKU has paid much attention to and supported the education and research causes of China for a long time. In the past decade, he had many connections with PKU, such as talking about the clean energy development with PKU students in 2009, promoting the Solar Decathlon to take place in China in 2011, and serving as a guest professor in the School of Physics of PKU.
PKU Chairman of Board Shanlu Zhu and President Jianhua Lin expressed appreciation to Steven and hoped for more cooperation in the long run.
In addition, Prof. Chu delivered a speech in the Yingjie Exchange Center of PKU and communicated with teachers and students on the topic of “Why choose STEM?” The speech aroused great interests among the students. They raised many questions such as how to become an expert in one field, the prospect of conventional energy, machine learning, and Steven answered them accordingly.
