Recently, the first “Innovative Talents Support Program for Post-graduates”(Bo Xin Program in Chinese) released its list of winners, among which was Dr. Ji Fu, a Ph.D. graduate from Prof. Faxin Li’s research team in the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science.
The Bo Xin Program, launched this year, aims to implement the China State Council’s suggestion on improving post-graduate system. It selects 200 current or new excellent Ph.D. graduates in 20 valued disciplines including state key strategies, hi-tech, and fundamental sciences and provides each graduate with a funding of 600 thousand RMB for a period of two years. In that 400 thousand RMB is designated for living subsidy, and 200 thousand RMB for scientific research.
Dr. Fu started his Ph.D. studies in Solid Mechanics in the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, College of Engineering in 2012, after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Harbin Engineering University. He obtained his doctoral degree in July 2016 with dissertation “Characterization Method Research of Material Mechanical Properties Based on Piezoelectric Cantilever”, which won the Excellent Ph.D. Dissertation Award of Peking University.
During his Ph.D. studies, he published 10 papers in SCI journals such as Smart Mater Struct, Rev Sci Instrum, Medical Physics as the first author and filed 11 national patents. His research achievements won the First Prize Paper in the 10th Far East Non-Destructive Test Forum in 2014, Excellent Paper in the 14th National Academic Conference in Experimental Mechanics in 2015, First Prize in the 3rd Peking University Industrial Design Contest in 2015, etc.
