From July 15-20, the 2016 Summer Program for High School Students was successfully held in the College of Engineering (COE). Over 230 selected high school students from nationwide attended the five-day program which was designed to give an excellent opportunity for high school students to know more about COE.
The program, initiated in 2003, aims to attract and select the best prospective students from the nation. Over 800 second-year high school students who have strong interest in engineering studies applied from a large number of schools in China, and about 230 students were enrolled to the program after a strict screening process.
In the five-day camp, they went through a series of activities including attending lectures, touring laboratories, sitting exams and having interviews, before 40 of them finally to be selected to receive qualification for the university-level independent admission examination next year.
The college leaders, faculty members of COE’s six departments, and current students met with the students, giving introductions to majors that COE offer and answered the questions the students had.
In the closing ceremony, many students of the summer program expressed that they had learned a lot from the activities, made new friends and were very grateful to the program.
