The College of Engineering ran a summer camp from July 11-14 for undergraduate students nationwide who wish to further their studies at Peking University after receiving their bachelor’s degree.
The mission of the camp was to offer an opportunity for the campers to learn more about Peking University and meet the engineering faculty face to face. It also served as an interview process for the College of Engineering for the admission of master and Ph.D. candidates for the fall 2011 term.
Over 270 students selected from more than 20 universities in China attended the summer camp.
During the opening ceremony held on July 12, Dongxiao Zhang, executive vice dean of COE, made an overall introduction of the college, which was followed by a series of presentations by representative faculty members about the various majors offered.
Currently, the college offers a variety of programs such as nanomaterial, aerospace, industrial engineering, energy and resources, mechanics and biomedical engineering.
Campers attended different talks, tests and interviews according to the program of their choice on July 13 and 14.
Dean Shiyi Chen spoke during the closing experience, sharing his own experience in studies and research and encouraged the attendees to help achieve the nation’s goal of moving from a “Made in China” nation to an “Invented in China” nation.
