The College of Engineering held its commencement ceremony for undergraduates and graduates at Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center on June 29.
Presided over by Assistant Dean Duoxiang Wang, the event was a celebration of the students' achievements. COE Dean Shiyi Chen, CPC secretary Wenchang Tan, and Associate Deans Xiaolei Wu, Shaoqiang Tang and Zhili Sun were present.
Commencement for the Class of 2011
Chen congratulated the graduating students and expressed great hopes for their future success. He said he hoped students will set their own goals, hold on to them and work hard to achieve them once they set foot into the greater world. Chen also urged them to start taking responsibilities for the others and the society.

Students presented a gift to the College
Jianqing Zhao, president of Xiamen Milestone Group and longtime supporter of the College of Engineering, shared his experience in entrepreneurship and offered tips on how to quickly adapt to the working environment. Afterwards, teachers’ representative Hao Wang reviewed the four years he has spent with the students and encouraged them to maintain their individuality.
Graduating students presented a super-sized T-shirt with their signatures as a gift to the College. This gift will be hung up on a wall of the new College of Engineering building once it has been completed, according to Tan.
