COE warmly welcomes freshmen of 2017

The ceremony got together many administrative leaders, faculty members, students and alumni to meet with the new entrants, a total of over 400 undergraduate, master and Ph.D. new students.

 

Prof. Dongxiao Zhang elected as a 2017 recipient of SPE Honorary Membership

SPE is the largest individual-member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry, with more than 164,000 members in 143 countries.

Prof. Qing Zhang’s team made big progress in small perovskite-based lasers

The research results are published in international authoritative journals: Advanced Functional Materials, Small Methods and the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.

Prof. Faxin Li’s group made a breakthrough in piezoelectric materials

They proposed a novel periodically orthogonal poling method for piezoelectric ceramics, which turns the nonlinear switching strain to be reversible and realized a giant actuation strain of 0.6% in the most widely used PZT ceramics, about 4 times of that in conventional PZT.

Prof. Yue Yang publishes research on the boundary-constraint method for constructing vortex-surface fields

The research progress entitled “The boundary-constraint method for constructing vortex-surface fields” was published in JOURNAL OF COMPUTATIONAL PHYSICS.

 
 

Prof. Yongmao Pei wins the 15th China Mechanics Science and Technology Youth Award

Yongmao Pei, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, College of Engineering, was awarded the 15th China Mechanics Science and Technology Youth Award.

Alumnus Xiang Yang wins Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award in Fluid Dynamics

Recently, the College of Engineering alumnus Xiang Yang was selected the 2017 Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award in Fluid Dynamics Recipient by the American Physical Society (APS).

 

The Chinese-Franco Symposium on Damage and Fracture of Composite Structures held in the College of Engineering

Over 40 scholars and students from China, France, Australia, UK and US attended the symposium.

COE holds the 2017 summer program for high school students

Over 210 selected high school students from nationwide attended the five-day program which was designed to give an excellent opportunity for high school students to know more about COE.

 

COE welcomes the visit from Waseda University Confucius Institute

On August 29, a delegation of 24 students from Waseda University Confucius Institute in Japan paid a visit to Peking University and communicated with the College of Engineering students.
